"The Original People" is a mysterious and highly fragmented sect that believes that all humanity originated on one world: Earth (also known as Terra).  Some branches shun technology altogether, some use it pragmatically to survive and maintain their anonymity, and others hold it in almost religious reverance with little understanding of the principles involved. However, all factions are highly secretive and do not proselytize, because membership is based on the belief that they are the descendants of the original wave of settlers that spread out into the galaxy from Earth.  Granted, this philosophy is a bit disingenuous because if all humanity originated on Earth, then all humanity is ultimately descended from the (literally) original people (Terrans), but it’s generally counterproductive to point that fact out to them.
